Melissa Forman expends her time conceiving a richly visual world topped up with individual features created from an opulent, secret, and often eerie imagination. Her beautiful, idealized numbers appear lost in their own worlds, wandering between the 16th, 18th, 19th and 21st centuries. Created from a blend of appropriated imagery from times long past and modern images from her personal assemblage, her portraits draw from conspicuous traditions in the genre but take on a life of their own. Her figures are strangely perfect and nearly iced in their expressions and poses.
