The Palace Show
Lilicoptère (2012) looks like certain thing Cee Lo Green would be soaring to his live performances. The Bell 47 airplane was displayed on a beautifully checkered marble floor in the Archers’ Room. adorned with gold leaf and Swarovski crystals, this feathery pink helicopter also includes intricate woodwork, Arraiolos rugs, and embroidered upholstery with Marie Antoinette’s initials.
Its rich and glamorous aesthetics are leveraged from the Ancien Régime. And the Lilicoptère symbolizes metamorphosis from machine to animal, coming back to the bird state which inspired man’s will to fly.
Marilyn (2009) was constructed to express women traditional role and different out of home social standard. These are actually Marilyn Monroe’s high-heels. These pumps were extraordinarily made with steel preparing food pots by renown Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, who last year had a record-breaking 1.6 million visits to her display in the castle of Versailles, France.
Her sculptures are popularly recognized for incorporating every day objects from Chinese store plastic ware to reviving customary Azorian crochet.
The Independent Heart (2005) was made with hundreds of plastic picnic forks, blades, and spoons. It is an unbelievable large-scale part that replicates customary filigree jewelry from northern Portugal. The sculpture is an honorable representation of Amalia, the most influential Fado vocalist in annals. When going into this huge ballroom, you can discover a selection of music from this singer.
Cleopatra (2009), the Egyptian ruler was interestingly comprised as a wasp. The body of the sculpture was made with a Bordalo ceramic part and covered with hand-knitted cotton fabric crochet. I like how the object was intelligently placed in the Queen’s stunningly azure bedroom.
