Boo Ritson's Canvas
Boo Ritson's canvas is the human body. The British artist benefits her human subjects' skin and apparel as the base for her work, covering them in decorate before photographing the out comes. The sitter participates in the creation of a hybrid of painting, sculpture, taking photos and, to some degree, presentation. Ritson uses the structure of the human body to evolve characters that are taken from the actual character of the people beneath the decorate. She moves the further step of obscuring their eyes and, thus, spirits, with dark crystal, all eviating along the transition to a sculptural state.
