Incredible Ice Sculptures

Fairbanks, Alaska hosts the World Ice Art Championships every year and this year's contestants did not let down. The 2013 edition boasted over 70 teams of sculptors from all round the world. They took part in some skirmishes in the month-long happening, though some of the most impressive pieces seem to draw from from the lone Block affray in which one or two-person groups are disputed to sculpt with only one large impede of ice.
The impede of ice that each group worked with for this category was roughly 8'x5'x3' and subsequent illuminated with a spectacular array of commanded lights. With only 60 hours to work on their construction and presentation, the artistic assemblies organised to produce some really remarkable works, both realistic and abstract. The even was such a success this year that they've almost directly started arranging the affray for 2014.
