Playful Sculptures
Oslo-based Norwegian creative person Benedicte Lyssand conceives intricately comprehensive miniature sculptures of commonplace people for her sequence titled Minorities. Each tiny, metallic figure is committed in an often laborious undertaking that utilizes objects discovered in our normal inhabits. These minuscule men playfully use a spool of gist, two times their dimensions, to stitch and assemble snowflakes the dimensions of their torsos off a block of ice, reflecting the artist's imaginative sense of wit.
Lyssand says, "To me, art is about observing the small important things in life. It´s about listening to children talking, observing how the snowfall falls or listing how a seed-pod bursts open in the sun. I try to capture the essence of each observation, understand some of the illusion from these everyday instants and show them by making three dimensional things. They all addition up to notify stories about extinct insects, relatives between persons, environmental policy and coincidences that lead up to unforeseen alterations in history."
