Spatial Sculptures Using Colorful Suspended Buttons
Miami-based artist Augusto Esquivel realistically replicates things by suspending thousands of stitching buttons on meagre strings. Each strand of his unbelievable sculptural parts work with their adjacent string of buttons to conceive colorful replicas of everything, from a rudimentary geometric cube to a pebble fountain enclosed in flowers and spouting water.
Esquivel's quick-witted creations display an astute comprehending of spatial definition and a keen eye for minutia, not to mention a lighthearted feast for the eyes. Each time-consuming part carefully coordinates the diverse forms and colors that buttons come in to redefine a space with an illusionary sculpture that is fragile sufficient to disintegrate at the flick of one's hand.
