Stunningly Ethereal Works by Stella Im Hultberg

Each character in Im Hultberg's works exudes a sense of duplicity. While surreal in their overstated characteristics, there is a simultaneous presence of realism. The multifaceted artist's paintings, illustrations, and sculptures all draw the viewer's vigilance, leaving them liking to understand more and interrogating the thoughts of these apparently sorrowful beauties, their faces raw from frost or possibly from tears. Im Hultberg farther alludes to sorrow and weeping through the form of her nearly sculptural rip fall canvases. These works are both ethereal and mysterious.
