Symmetrical Paper Butterfly Installations
Paper art is a fascinating technique that needs a lot of patience and a lot of ability. Creative group Will & Caro, comprising of Australian-born Carolyn Wong and Finland-born William Du, are no outsiders to this mighty artistic form. The two self-taught creative persons commenced their first large-scale task in December of 2009 and it was a great achievement.
Will & Caro conceive dainty parts using mostly washi (Japanese paper), focusing on easy types made with fragile material. Wong's intrigue with Japanese heritage and Du's interest in action and disorder are a flawless blend for their collaborative concepts. Each piece characteristics tiny paper butterflies, coordinated into flawlessly symmetrical forms that remind a certain power and life in the still types. According to their website, "The inspiration lies behind nature in that it’s conceive is both premeditated and effortless which is reminiscent in some ways of the life familiarity unique to each individual."
