Mini Donuts Big Happiness
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the leprechaun way with a simple kid-friendly kitchen craft that turns out teeny, tiny treats so adorable, you may just catch one of those lucky guys!
A box of Multigrain Cheerios are transformed into Leprechaun Donuts when they’re frosted by your tots, sprinkled with wee sprinkles, and tucked inside a little box. Your kids will want to nibble these sweet treats up, but the allure of sharing them with leprechauns may keep them from gobbling them all!
There are a lot of ways to make these cute little donuts. Go for the classic pink-frosted look with rainbow sprinkles, or let your little make an array of rainbow donuts it’s a perfect way to trick leprechauns into thinking you've found their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The activities are endless! Pull out that Elf on a Shelf, add a few green accessories, and let him be your leprechaun! The kids can hide mini donuts around the house and let the family “Leprechaun” see if he can pop up and find them all.
Of course, if you’d rather not hide mini donuts around your home, this cute recipe is perfect for doll tea parties, teeny-weeny party snacks, or a really fun lunchbox treat.
Here’s how to make them:
Start with a box of Multigrain Cheerios. Any kind of Cheerios (or similar cereal) will work, but the multigrain colors make for fun donuts canvases.
Grab some chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or candy melts. If you’re going for the rainbow donuts look, you’ll want candy melts in every color.
A little goes a long way! Place just a few candy melts on a microwave-safe plate, melting them just until soft. Dip the top half of each Cheerio in the melted chocolate.
Then, dip into sprinkles. If you’d prefer a more accurate “sprinkled donuts” look, just pinch a few sprinkles in your fingers and sprinkle on top.
Now you’ll need tiny little jewelry boxes, or dollhouse plates … whatever teeny-weeny container you can find! We found these cute little 1″ x 2″ jewelry boxes, and pressed a sticker up top.
Allow your donuts to cool completely
Then gather them up and get ready to package them!
Place a few leprechaun donuts in your boxes (or other preferred container), and tada! They make the sweetest tiny treats ever!
