Human Figure Sculptures

Though cast from bands of stainless steel ribbons, these human figure sculptures by Texas-based artist Gil Bruvel appear more fluid than solid, as if the breeze could easily blow them apart. The works above are all part of the artist’s "Flow sequence" that he states are meant to reveal “an absolutely vital underlying fluidity that lives simultaneously inside the physical, quantum, and metaphoric realms.” Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1959, Gil Bruvel's French-born parents moved the family back to the south of France when he was 4 years vintage. While taking drawing courses at age 9 and learning sculpture basics, Gil declared himself an creative person. He started working with oil paint at the age of 12 and the localized environment had an enormous and lasting effect on his palette.
